Health Insurance Accepted!

Nutrition counseling services at Tidewater Nutrition & Wellness are often covered as a preventive service, meaning no out-of-pocket costs to you!  Insurance plans can differ, so it’s best to verify your benefits (it’s easy, see below).

In-network with the following insurance providers:
  • Aetna
  • Anthem
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Harvard Pilgrim

How to Verify Your Health Insurance Benefits:

Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the questions below to verify the insurance benefits you have for nutrition counseling.  This will help ensure you get the most out of your benefits and avoid unexpected costs.

  • Does my plan cover nutritional counseling, procedure codes 97802 & 97803 or S9470?
  • Do I have preventative benefits?  Is code Z71.3 or Z72.4 covered as a primary diagnosis, or is a medical diagnosis required*?
  • Is a referral or physician’s order required? (Please note:  A referral from your PCP is required if the front of your card states you have an “HMO” plan.  All Harvard Pilgrim plans require either a referral or physician’s order)                                                                                                 *If a medical diagnosis or referral is required, simply have your doctor fax it to us at 207-358-6887
  • Are nutrition services provided via telehealth covered?
  • Is there a limit on the number of nutrition sessions allowed?
  • Do I have a deductible or copay?
  • Is Kristine Taylor/ Tidewater Nutrition & Wellness a covered provider under my plan?
  • I recommend writing down the date and reference number from your call.  Although Tidewater Nutrition may be able to guide you in this process, it’s your financial responsibility to know what your plan covers and any co-pays you may have before our sessions.

Please note, Tidewater Nutrition & Wellness requires a credit/debit card on file for all appointments.
