Health Insurance Accepted!

Nutrition counseling services at Tidewater Nutrition & Wellness are often covered as a preventive service, meaning no out-of-pocket costs to you!  Insurance plans can differ, so it’s best to verify your benefits (it’s easy, see below).

Plans accepted:
  • Aetna
  • Anthem
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Harvard Pilgrim
  • United HealthCare

How to Verify Your Health Insurance Benefits:

Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the questions below to verify the insurance benefits you have for nutrition counseling. This will help ensure you get the most out of your benefits and avoid unexpected costs.

  • Do I have benefits for nutritional counseling (ask for procedure codes 97802 & 97803)?
  • Is code z71.3 (dietary counseling and surveillance) covered as a primary diagnosis, or is a medical diagnosis required*?
*If a medical diagnosis is required, simply have your doctor fax an order/referral or your diagnosis list to us at 207-358-6887
  • Is a doctor’s referral or order required? (Please note:  Some Aetna & all Harvard Pilgrim plans require a physician’s order even if plan states no referral required)  If so, simply have your doctor fax an order or your diagnosis list to us at 207-358-6887
  • Are nutrition services provided via telehealth covered (and if so, is there a copay)?
  • Is there a limit on the number of visits allowed?
  • Do I have a deductible or copay  (if not under preventative care)?
  • Is Kristine Taylor/ Tidewater Nutrition & Wellness a covered provider under my plan?
  • I recommend writing down the reference number for your call and the date.  Although Tidewater Nutrition may be able to guide you in this process, it’s your financial responsibility to know what your plan covers and any co-pays you may have before our sessions.

Please note, in the event that Tidewater Nutrition & Wellness is considered out of network you will need to pay for your counseling session at the time of service. Kristine is happy to provide you with an an itemized invoice you can submit to your insurance company directly for reimbursement.

Payment:

Cash, credit/debit cards, and HSA cards accepted.  Please note, a credit/debit card on file is required for all appointments.
